For over 80 years, the Bluebird has been the gathering place in Leland for locals and tourists alike. From the casual 100 seat bar, to the more elegant, scenic dining room on the banks of the Leland River, the Bluebird tradition of excellence is always apparent. Long known for the finest whitefish and perch in Northern Michigan, the Bluebird is constantly striving to raise the level of quality across the board, to include the finest steaks available, our own fresh pasta, wood smoked ribs, and the freshest, flown-in seafood.|
The menu contains many timeless favorites, and the nightly specials often consist of cutting edge cuisine that is unmatched in the area. Our Mother’s Day Menu
Entrees – includes Salad Bar, potatoes and vegetable, bread and cinnamon roll.
Lake Michigan Whitefish - prepared one of 4 ways. – 20.
Bluebird Style - Dusted with our seasoned flour and lightly fried in pure vegetable oil.
Parmesan Crusted – Lightly coated with parmesan, broiled and finished with Gazpacho Salsa
Broiled - with citrus butter.
Blackened – Coated with Cajun spices, seared on hot cast iron, served with fried sweet potatoes
Bluebird Style Perch - Delicate, sweet fillets are lightly breaded and fried Bluebird Style. 21.
Pretzel Crusted Walleye – Great Lakes Walleye fillet is coated with crushed pretzels and sautéed and finished with a drizzle of citrus butter to top off this wonderful northern game fish. 21.
Carlsons Lake Trout – Baked “en papillote” with wild leeks and asparagus. – 20.
BBQ Scallops – Wrapped in apple smoked bacon, finished with a seafood BBQ sauce.. – 21.
Shrimp Puttanesca – over a nest of spinach linguini. – 22.
Salmon Wellington – Fresh salmon is wrapped in puff pastry with a west coast BBQ butter, and baked golden-brown. - 20.
Chicken Florentine Canneloni – Description being finalized
Classic Jaegerschnitzel – Pork cutlets are pounded thin, coated in breadcrumbs and pan-fried. Finished with a wild mushroom cream sauce. – 18.
Cherry Wood Smoked BBQ Ribs - Pork back ribs are seasoned and smoked in our outdoor smoker over cherry wood, then oven-roasted, and finished on our char-grill while basted with tangy BBQ sauce. 19.
Maple Glazed Roast Duck – ½ Duck is seasoned and roasted, glazed with our own housemade Leland maple syrup. – 22.
Roasted Prime Rib Au Jus*- A whole rib roast is seasoned and slow roasted for tenderness. A 12 oz. cut, served au jus. 20.
New York Strip - A 12 oz. Certified Naturally Raised strip steak is lightly dusted with our house seasoning and char-grilled to you liking, served with a cabernet/shallot compound butter. - 32.
Tenderloin w/Gouda - A thick center filet of beef tenderloin is lightly seasoned and pan-seared, then roasted to medium-rare. 24.
Rack of Lamb – A beautiful 6-bone rack is seasoned and char-grilled to your order. – 26.
Kids Menu – Whitefish, Chicken Tenders, Pasta Alfredo or Pasta Marinara. Includes corn and French Fries. – 8.
Our ethnic dinners are held Wednesday and Thursday nights in the winter months and showcase the cuisine from various regions around the country and the world.
The dining room overlooks our beautifully landscaped grounds and the Leland River and features an award-winning menu.
Our wine list features the finest wines from France, California and the Leelanau and Grand Traverse Area.
The Bluebird's bar features a great tavern menu and has been a social spot for generations of Leelanau residents and visitors.
The Bluebird has been at the same location on the Leland River and under the ownership of the Telgard family since its opening in 1923.
