April 6, 2006/in almanac, Leelanau

Leland River sunrise

Last week winter delivered an impromtu encore performance, dropping a bit of snow (melted now) and in general slushing things up for a couple days.

The Week’s Weather

Friday, March 31, 2006: Mostly sunny & 60s (64Ëš/43Ëš)
Saturday, April 1, 2006: Sunny & upper 90s (98.6Ëš/97Ëš)
Sunday, April 2, 2006: Mostly cloudy & 40s (52Ëš/27Ëš)
Monday, April 3, 2006: Early clouds & snow, then mostly sunny & 30s (43Ëš/29Ëš)

Wednesday, April 5, 2006: Mostly sunny & upper 40s (50Ëš/32Ëš)

News from the Week

The top story for the week was certainly the stunning Validation of this Great Lakes Submarine Photo (must be seen to be believed). Keith Burnham also broke the story of a new Leelanau Sheriff’s Department Program.

In less spectacular news, County Planners got ready to work on Windmill Zoning, Jim Nugent discussed how the lack of a GT Bay freeze is hurting cherry crops, Glen Lake/MSU’s Liz Shimek was drafted by Phoenix (#18) and traded to Houston, and a Request to rezone in Empire was denied.
