Andrew McFarlane

Andrew McFarlane is the founder and lead developer for Leelanau.com. From our first website in 1995 to our very latest project, Andrew has directed the work of employees and a wide range of teams to produce a wide range of websites, media projects, community collaborations, and marketing and outreach initiatives.

Significant Work

  • Oversight of web development and marketing projects for Leelanau.com. (1995 – present)
  • Development of first regional portal Leelanau.com that has featured an online magazine, community bulletin boards, local and regional news, hosted websites, special online projects, linked social media accounts, original content including photography and video. (1995 – present)
  • Media Manager for the annual Traverse City Film Festival (and TC Comedy Festival) coordinating website development and the creation of a wide range of promotional media created by large volunteer teams that feature industry professionals, college media students, and volunteers. (2002 – 2019)
  • Creation and continual operation of the Michigan in Pictures daily photo blog that featured photography submitted by professional and amateur photographers. (2005 – 2017)
  • Director of the Leelanau Peninsula Vintners Association, Michigan’s oldest and largest wine trail. (2006-2013)
  • Co-creation and oversight of Traverse City Wine & Art Festival, at the time one of Michigan’s most significant & innovative culinary & entertainment events. (2007 – 2013)
  • Communications oversight for The Grand Vision, a regional transportation futuring project that brought together a wide range of businesses, organizations, governmental units, educators, and individuals. (2007 – 2009)
  • Co-creation & editorial management of Traverse City area food & drink guide, eatdrinkTC. (2014 – present)
  • President, Leland Public School Board of Education (2003-2009)
