Benefit Bread
9 Bean Rows Bakery is making a special loaf of bread on Saturdays to benefit their good friend and a friend to many, Chef Fig. They write:
Our dear friend, Chef Fig from Fig’s Breakfast & Lunch, was recently diagnosed with bilateral kidney cancer. They’ve had to adjust their service hours to give him necessary time to rest and heal. To support Fig and his family during this challenging time, we’ve created a special bread with figs, walnuts, honey, whole wheat flour, and buckwheat flour. This yummy “Fig’s Fig Bread” is going to be available in limited quantities on Saturdays, starting tomorrow, at our bakery on M204 and at The Village at Grand Traverse Commons Farmers Market (Saturdays, 10-2) for $5/loaf. All proceeds go directly to Fig, including from any special orders for these loaves we receive!
We’re also set up to take donations directly if you want to help but don’t want to purchase a loaf. Thank you SO much to those of you who have already donated – our little community is beyond awesome!
**Edited to add** We’re overwhelmed by the response this post has gotten – you all are amazing! To clarify: we are going to be making small batches (20-40 loaves) of Fig’s Bread every Saturday from tomorrow until Fig is in remission, and you can buy them at our bakery and at the Saturday markets in TC. You can also call or email the bakery to special order! ❤️
