The #2 ranked Leland Comets Volleyball squad (46-10-1) knocked off #15 ranked Mt. Pleasant Sacred Heart Academy in straight sets by scores of 25-13, 25-8 and 25-11. That means that on Friday at 2 PM in Battle Creek they face #8 ranked Carney-Nadeau. If they are victorious, they’ll meet the winner of the match between top ranked Mendon & #6 Southfield Christian in the Class D State Finals on Saturday at 10 AM.
Leland is a perennial power in Michigan volleyball and are seeking their fourth state title of the 21st century. It would also be the second state championship this year for the Comets who also won the Class D Soccer crown a couple of weeks ago. GO COMETS!!
If you can’t make it, The Leland Lodge will be streaming the games live at Bogey’s 19th Hole, and they’ll be celebrating Leland Girls Volleyball from now through their STATE FINAL WIN (??????) this Saturday by donating $2 from the sale of every COMET BURGER to Leland Public School Athletics! They made 148 Comet Burgers during Boys Soccer finals … can we beat that record?
The MHSAA also offers a live stream for $9.95 for (hopefully) both matches and you can get all the tournament action & info right here.
