Gen Netxt – Leelanau County Young Professionals Group

March 2, 2009/in Business, family, Leelanau, news, nonprofit, traverse city

gen-netxtThe Morning Ticker from the Traverse City Business News reported that the Leelanau Chamber is launching Gen Netxt – a group to provide networking opportunities for young professionals and entrepreneurs. Group organizers Dr. Jessica Carden of Revive Chiropractic and Eric Thibo of Fifth Third Bank in Suttons Bay explain that the group is designed for Gen Xers and Millennials:

The group’s meetings will be family-friendly, Carden says, and will provide an alternative to the chamber’s Business After Hours, which she believes can be difficult for professionals with young families to participate in. There will also be volunteer events and programs to help connect group members to the place they live.

“I think it’s important especially for young folks so that they feel more involved in their communities and are more likely to stay here,” Thibo says.

The group has a Facebook page to help you keep updated on meetings and get-togethers (they had one Saturday at Timberlee) and you can also email Sally at the Leelanau Chamber. For folks in Traverse City, there’s a Traverse City Chamber Young Professionals group that is 700+ members.
