Leelanau Almanac for the week of May 25 – May 31, 2006

June 1, 2006/in almanac, Leelanau

Lilacs ... again

The Week’s News

The week’s top story was the announcement of the lineup for the 2nd Annual Traverse City Film Festival. The TCFF will expand to seven days (Monday, July 31 to Sunday, August 6) and screen nearly 50 movies. This year’s festival will also pay a special tribute to the films of Stanley Kubrick on the 50th anniversary of his first feature film.

There was also a moving letter asking folks to Stop and Think that is more than worth your time.

Other stories included a look at what’s happening in Empire (lots!), View of Leelanau from Door County, Wisconsin and news that Glen Lake has recalled 10 of 11 pink slipped teachers.

The Week’s Weather

We had a beautiful, amazing Memorial Day Weekend with a record-setting high of 93 degrees on Monday. Lilacs are fading, irises are out and everything is very, very green.
