Almanac of the North auditions

Auditions are being held for the Leelanau Players production of “Almanac of the North” at the Munneke Room at the Leland Township Library this Wednesday & Thursday (January 10 & 11)  from 7 – 9 pm. The play is written by Scott Craig and contains a miscellany of acted scenes selected from the works of such notedThe Leelanau Players Michigan authors as Ernest Hemingway, Bruce Catton, Jim Harrison, Lynne Rae Perkins, Kathleen Stocking and Anne- Marie Oomen. The stories which will be interspersed with musical numbers based on northern Michigan themes, ranging from lyrical pieces, and the ninety minute production will be performed at the Old Art Building in Leland on March 2 and 3 at 7:30 PM and on Sunday afternoon March 4 at 3:00 PM.

Some 20 adult cast members of all ages, both male and female, are needed. There are also roles for 9 children ranging in age from 7 to around 12. In addition there are two fine parts for young men in their early 20’s. One does not need singing ability to take part in the production. Rehearsal time commitment for some parts will be minimal and they hope to involve as many people in the community as possible. No experience is necessary!
