Glen Arbor Players Readers Theater presents The Drawer Boy

Drawer Boy Glen Arbor Readers TheaterNEWS RELEASE: The Glen Arbor Players Readers Theater troupe will present The Drawer Boy by Michael Heaton from June 8-10th at the Glen Lake Church. The play covers a full range of emotions from heart-warming to humorous to extremely intense. The story centers on the role that secrets play in maintaining difficult personal relationships and the fear that emerges when those secrets are challenged and there is a threat that they will be exposed. The tension in the play arises from the inner conflict between telling the truth or maintaining the comfort of the status quo, no matter how challenging.

Morgan and Angus are lifelong friends who go off to war and one returns with severe brain damage. They build a life together on a farm in Ontario. Morgan protects Angus with a lie about what really happened. An actor from Toronto arrives and challenges the status quo. The fear of exposure, protection of a friend and the redemption that arises from the truth form the arc of the play.

The four superb actors in the play are Joe Kilpatrick, Jan Dalton, Rick Korndorfer and narration by Jean Jenkins. They all have at least 40 years of stage experience and have been in hundreds of plays collectively. The director is Thomas Webb, PhD, who also has many years of theatrical experience. The plays will be staged at the Glen Lake Church, 4902 W. MacFarlane, Glen Arbor on June 8-10th at 7:30 pm. Admission is free and goodwill contributions are accepted. Refreshments will be served at intermission.
