Dune Climb … occupied by Ken Scott

The National Park Service has released their 2014 economic impact numbers, and the numbers show that the Sleeping Bear Dunes National Lakeshore remains a strong driver of our area’s economy.

In 2014, Lakeshore visitors spent an estimated $144.7 million in local gateway regions, the areas directly surrounding the Lakeshore and the cities and towns where they typically stay. These visitor expenditures supported a total of 2,300 jobs accounting for $56.7 million in labor income, $103.8 million in value added, and $181.7 million in economic output in communities surrounding Sleeping Bear Dunes National Lakeshore.
