Sleeping Bear Dunes Summer 2025 Event Highlights!

The Sleeping Bear Dunes National Lakeshore has released their highlights for summer 2025:

The annual Port Oneida Fair takes place August 8-9, offering visitors an immersive experience of rural life in the late 1800s and early 1900s. Historic farms come alive with traditional skills demonstrations, crafts, and living-history activities presented in partnership with Preserve Historic Sleeping Bear.

Heroes of the Storm, a dramatic reenactment of a historic U.S. Life-Saving Service rescue drill, is offered Thursdays at 3:00 p.m. at the Maritime History Museum in Glen Haven.

Throughout the season, visitors can also enjoy Candlelight Hikes, along an illuminated, one-mile trail that showcases the park’s dunes at twilight.

Complementing these experiences, Twilight Talks will be held almost nightly in the National Lakeshore’s campgrounds. Highlights this year include presentations by Eric Hemenway, an Anishinaabe historian.
