News from the Week

Our top story is a complete video of the Leelanau Candidate Forum that you can watch online. Other stories included the release of Leelanau author Lynn Rae Perkins’ new book Cardboard Piano, the upcoming International Animation Festival at the State, 10,000 pop bottles at Kilcherman Farms and a question as to whether or not the Sleeping Bear Dunes National Lakeshore needs to do more to promote the park and our region.

The Week’s Weather

Fall Color is just about peak!Our fall color report finds us at peak to passing peak around the county. We should still enjoy great color through the weekend though and very likely into next week as well!

It was a nice October week – sunny, 50s and 60s with lots of color.

Oct 16, 2008: Partly sunny & 50s (53/40)
Oct 17, 2008: Sunny & low 50s with early morning frost (52/31)
Oct 18, 2008: Sunny & 50s – a gorgeous day! (56/59)
Oct 19, 2008: Early sun & upper 50s with heavy evening rain (61/40)
Oct 20, 2008: Mostly cloudy, some morning rain, windy & 50s (56/44)
Oct 21, 2008: Early clouds, then mostly sunny & 40s (46/28)
Oct 22, 2008: Mostly sunny, breezy & 50 (51/22) Record low!
