Art From Michigan’s Wine Country
Great art, wine and food are the main events for Art From Michigan’s Wine Country, Friday, February 4th from 6-8 p.m. in the Mountain Flowers Lodge at The Homestead Resort, Glen Arbor. It’s a special evening that kicks off the Leelanau Peninsula Vintners Association’s Taste the Passion weekend. For a third year, this fun winter event features wine from Leelanau wineries, original art by local artists and a fabulous small plates menu designed by The Homestead’s Chef Piombo.
The price is $20 per person, a portion of which benefits the Glen Arbor Art Association, and includes one glass of wine and food stations with delectable small plates. Additional wine available for $4/glass or three glasses for $10. A coffee tasting will be provided by Leelanau Coffee Roasters.
Taste the Passion Weekend ~ February 5-6, 2011
Celebrate wine, chocolate and love at the upcoming Valentine’s Day at the Taste the Passion weekend February 5 & 6, 2011. The combination of winter’s beauty in Leelanau with the special pleasures of life always makes for wonderful weekend. You can enjoy special pours and tasty chocolate treats or savory pairings at Leelanau wine trail wineries.
To add to the weekend’s festivities, several of the wineries will hold special events and activities exclusively for “Taste the Passion” ticket holders to celebrate the beauty and fun to be had in our winter wonderland!
Snowshoe Hikes in the Sleeping Bear Dunes National Lakeshore
There’s no better way to stick to your New Year’s Resolution than by joining a Park Ranger at the Sleeping Bear Dunes National Lakeshore every Saturday and Sunday through the month of February. Read more from the Glen Arbor Sun and even if you don’t do the guided hikes, DO get out and ski or snowshoe in the Dunes and on other trails around the county!!

It’s 27 degrees and with light snow at 2 PM at Leelanau Coffee Roasting in Glen Arbor. The record high for a January 20th was 55 degrees in 1916 with the low of -14 set in 1963. We’re expecting about 2-3″ of snow by tomorrow morning and light snow and low 20s on Saturday. Sunday, look for cloudy skies, light snow and low to mid 20s.
