While weren’t updating every day during the summer, we did compile a few stories from last week.

• With the August primary election just a week away, it might be time to head over to the Michigan Land Use Institute to read the responses of County Commissioner candidates to five important questions about land use.

• The Freep bit on the dinner with Mario Batali – one of many auction items you can bid on online from the Leelanau Conservancy (and in person on August 7)
• The Record-Eagle says that Cherry quantity is down, but cherry QUALITY is up this year as the sweet harvest winds down and the tart harvest ramps up.
