The Weather
About the photo Ken Scott writes: I was out this past Sunday roaming the county to see what the blizzard was bringing and as I was driving through Omena, I saw this scene unfold … I call it a ‘drive by shooting’ as I had just enough time to pull off the road to get the shot … I thought about asking Sunny to come back out and do a smiley greeting pose, but the magic for me was the candidness in this.
It’s 27 degrees under cloudy skies at 3:30 PM at Leelanau Coffee Roasting in Glen Arbor. The record high for a December 17 was 56 in 1913 with the low of -10 set in 1973. The forecast for today calls for highs in the low 30s with scattered light snow (no accumulation) and maybe 1″ of snow overnight. For Saturday and Sunday, look for some snow and some sun with temps in the upper 20s and southwest winds at 10-20.
