2021 Omena Mayor Race Kicks Off!

The Omena Historical Society invites you to participate in the political event of the season, the 2021 election for Mayor of Omena!

The tongue in cheek campaign for “Pawblic” office raises money for the OHS & was a massive success in 2018, attracting national attention including a PEOPLE magazine article and electing a slate of candidates including Mayor Sweet Tart McKee (pictured), a pair of puppies in Diablo Shapiro (First Vice Mayor) & Punkin Anderson-Harden (Second Vice Mayor)n Press Secretary & goat Harley Jones, and Special Assistant for Fowl Issues Penny Labriola.

The candidates must be an animal of any genus or species that is from Omena & willing to serve a three year term. Some PR is required of the Mayor’s human handler throughout their term. Sweet Tart was recently interviewed for a feature in Scholastic Books!
